Research position for H&M seniors

Please see the below message about research experience at University of Michigan:

I hope you are doing well! You may not remember me but my name is Johanna Buschhaus, and I graduated from Skyline in 2013. I am currently pursuing my PhD in biomedical engineering at a breast cancer research lab. In high school, I volunteered at a research lab which highly influenced my decision to pursue a PhD. We are looking for a student to help out with general lab maintenance. Students must be reliable, able to commit 8-10 hours a week for at least one year, and interested in breast cancer research. Would you be willing to forward this information to any students/teachers (i.e. AP Bio/Chem) that may be interested in the position? High school seniors intending to study at U of M are especially encouraged to apply. I have pasted the ad below and would appreciate if you could send the information out.

Interdisciplinary  research opportunities are available in the Luker lab in the Center for Molecular Imaging (CMI).  We are seeking motivated, team-oriented, and dynamic individuals planning a career in research or medicine to join our team of researchers. Responsibilities include: lab organization and maintenance, ordering, and cell culture. Students seeking summer employment are encouraged to apply. Students interested in cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, and/or optical imaging are encouraged to apply. Students work directly with senior members of the lab, including the PI, and our collaborators in a robust team environment. A commitment of 8-10 hours per week for 1 year or more to the lab is recommended. We especially encourage applications from high school seniors interested in summer research who are planning to study at U of M.

Opportunity: Health Summit, Mara M thank you

Dear, Mr. Bradley

I would like to inform you about a unique opportunity for students in the magnet: the 2019 Health Equity High School Summit hosted by the University of Michigan School of Public Health and The Health Equity Leadership Pipeline Collaborative in the Health Management and Policy Department. I attended this event last year and it was a very eye opening experience to the field of public health!

Taking place on February 23rd, 2019 at the U-M School of Public Health, the summit’s mission is to introduce high school students to the discipline of public health and health disparities. To expose high school students to the complexities of addressing health disparities, they will engage in a team case study competition, have the opportunity to interact with health professionals and students, listen to a renown public health professional present a keynote speech, and participate in a series of mini workshops on broad health disparity topics. The summit will be an all-day event, free of charge, and food will be provided. That said, this is when YOU become essential to the success of the summit! We are seeking support in spreading the word about this opportunity and I was wondering if you could post the flyer as well as the link to register on your blog?

Students can register today at https://goo.gl/nRgqix

Please let me know if you have any questions, I have attached the flyer below.

Thank you!
